Book Voyages on the Williams II
In 1819 the Antarctic landmass was discovered by a ship and skipper from the small North East town of Blyth, Northumberland.
The Brig Williams was built in Blyth and owned by a local born and raised man, Captain William Smith. To celebrate the anniversary of this British achievement the charity, Blyth Tall Ship restored a similar wooden tall ship, the Williams II at almost the same location the original ship was built. It now runs Williams Expedition voyages to recreate some of the experiences William Smith would have had. The ongoing sailing programme started with an around Britain sail in 2019 and continues with day trips, week long experiences and longer expeditions. We sail with local people, corporate clients, trainees and unemployed crew looking to expand their CV by challenging themselves and learning offshore skills as well as those just seeking an adventure.
We continue to recruit experienced and inexperienced crews for ongoing voyages.
