25th April 2019

By Clive Gray

We had a wonderful welcome from the Port team at Ayr, and moored on the same berth as in 2016, when we supported Corney & Barrow’s 250 years as a wine merchant (on the back of the smugglers out of the Isle of Man).

We were impressed by the developments in the Port since our last visit & delighted that the old cellars of Corney & Barrow were unchanged as well.

With bright weather and a few repairs after our bumpy ride north (those smugglers did well &andcertainly took great risks with no engines and limited navigation equipment!) we went out to sea for the afternoon to practice a few more manoeuvres for the ‘competent crew’ syllabus.
